Cooking Workshop: Jamaican Me Hungry!

Over the Christmas holidays I took a trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica with my mom and siblings to visit my extended family. What a vacation it was! I’ve been to Jamaica a few times when I was younger, but now as an adult I was able to appreciate the food culture a lot more.

My uncle and aunts came over to the house we were staying at and brought over ackee and other delicious eats. I went down to Scotchies (a restaurant on the island known for their authentic Jamaican dishes) and ate the most delicious jerk chicken, jerk pork, and bammy with rice and peas.

I grew up on my mother’s Jamaican cooking and learned a lot from her over the years. Adding in a few of my own spins on dishes, and tips from my culinary-gifted aunts and uncles from the island, I’ve garnered a pretty large repertoire for delicious Jamaican dishes.

On Saturday, June 25, 2016 you can discover the flavour of one of the Caribbean’s most exciting cuisines for yourself by taking my cooking workshop at Hendrix!
