The crisp days of autumn are here, and after a warm summer it’s time to prepare for more entertaining and holiday fun in the kitchen! From savoury squash to freshly-picked apples, you will explore some of the healthiest and most flavourful local produce during this October cooking class at Hendrix.
I’ll be leading class participants in making the following three recipes:
- Butternut Squash + Sweet Potato Soup w/ Parmesan Crisps
There are many layers of flavour in this delicious soup. Squash, potatoes and apples round out this dish. You’ll also learn how to make a nice parmesan crisp garnish to top it off.
- Pumpkin Bread w/ Maple-Cream Cheese Filling
Nothing says autumn like pumpkins! This pumpkin bread has a surprise inside: a sweet maple + cream cheese filling.
- Healthy Date Caramel Apples
Love to eat a few caramel apples and not feel guilty about it because of all the refined sugar? Well the secret to these are dates.
We will be making everything from scratch and there will be time at the end of class to enjoy the meal everyone helps create. You’ll be eager to try all these recipes for your fall gatherings. Don’t worry, I will also provide recipe sheets so that you can practice re-creating these tasty dishes at home.
