Ingredients
325mLhot water(a little more than 1 cup)
2tbsphoney
1bagginger teaorganic or unsweetened
1lemon
25mLwhiskey(about 1 fl. oz.)
1smallcinnamon bark
Instructions
Boil enough water in a kettle to fill up a mug (anywhere from 1-2 cups will be needed).
Pour the hot water into the mug. Stir in the honey to dissolve, and add the ginger tea bag. Allow to steep for 2-4 minutes.
While the tea is steeping, cut the lemon in half and extract the juice. Add it to your cup.
Slice the remaining half of lemon for garnish.
Remove the teabag, and stir in the lemon juice and whiskey. Add in the cinnamon stick and slices of lemon to infuse more flavour.
Notes
Using a mug that has been warmed will help keep your hot toddy piping hot while waiting for the tea to steep. You can fill it with hot water, let it sit for a few minutes and then dump it out right before starting the recipe.
You can make this alcohol-free by just omitting the whiskey, and top it off with a bit more water instead.
