T&T Waterfront Night Market
The 5th annual T&T Waterfront Night Market took place over the weekend of July 25-27th on Cherry Street in Downtown Toronto. The festival showcased over 100 booths of the best in Asian street food, as well as musical entertainment and sports competitions like basketball. From stinky tofu, to BBQ squid on a stick to tornado potatoes, this was quite the unique culinary experience!
It was inspiring to see the wide array of cultural cuisine, and I was eager to try some new dishes (I just wish I remembered all the names of them)!
The deep-fried rice balls (or rather triangles) were my favourite. Coated in panko, wrapped in a piece of nori, and topped with sauce, they were absolutely delicious.
I also had the sweet chorizo from Tocino Boys. Love the combo of savory+sweet. Will have to pick up some of this meet from my local Asian grocery store to try at home when I have a craving.
The squid on the skewers looked tempting. So did the wings that were stuffed with mac & cheese, and the taro twists, but by that time I was full on so many other morsels.
Didn’t try the smelly tofu. Maybe next year when the line isn’t too long (and when I bring some nose-plugs).
If you haven’t experienced this event before, and are the adventurous type when it comes to food, then you need to check it out at least once. Can’t wait ’til next year!
